Quick question about reducers: I thought that RV reducers weren't very common in humanoids? That most reducers are either planetary or harmonic reducers? (RV's are much more common in industrial robotics).

But am I incorrect in my understanding?

You're absolutely right to flag this, and thank you for the correction.

RV reducers are primarily used in industrial robot arms, where size and weight constraints are less critical. Most humanoid robots today do rely on harmonic reducers and planetary reducers rather than RV reducers, precisely because humanoids need to minimize weight at every joint.

The section on RV reducers in the article was drawing from a broader industry supply chain analysis that covers both industrial and humanoid robotics, and I should have been clearer about that distinction. The domestic supply gap on RV reducers matters more for China's industrial robot sector than for humanoids specifically.

I will update the article to make that distinction clearer.
